A healthy breakfast smoothie that packs protein, fibre and a healthy dose of greens to keep you going until lunch, all while tasting like a peanut butter banana milkshake.
Anyone else feeling like they need to get back on track this week? I am– spring is in the air! I’m doing some meal prep for the week, and I wanted to share the recipe for the smoothie I take with me to work every day. I LOVE this recipe for many reasons:
- It contains over 15 grams of protein
- It allows me to get a serving of vegetables at breakfast
- It’s easy to make and portable
- It’s low in calories
- It tastes more like dessert than breakfast

A beef & chickpea stew with Moroccan spices that packs a flavourful punch. Perfect for making ahead in a slow cooker and freezing for meals through the week!
I’m a big fan of batch cooking and freezing meals. It helps me keep my weeknights easy and filled with Netflix– just how I like them. I honestly can’t remember the last time I cooked a legitimate “dinner” during the week. If I don’t have anything in the freezer that can be heated in 3 minutes or less, I’ll more than likely be ordering in or just having popcorn, so I’ll generally spend a Sunday cooking every few weeks and pack my freezer full– it doesn’t take long because it’s mini. A family favourite pancake recipe for basic buttermilk pancakes. Warm, fluffy, and perfect for a weekend breakfast.
My family has been making these pancakes for as long as I can remember, and they’re the first thing I ever learned to cook, so I thought I’d put these up for Family Day. Nothing better than a lazy weekend breakfast! You can really tell, based on the shape the recipe is in, that these pancakes have been well-loved. Continue reading →
Dense yet fluffy, rich chocolate cupcakes stuffed with Ferrero Rocher chocolates and topped with sweet, creamy Nutella Buttercream frosting…so good.
In honour of Valentine’s day, I made these decadent Nutella/Ferrero cupcakes. I had made them a few years ago, but this year I decided to try them again and upgrade the chocolate cupcake recipe…because you have to start with the best base, right? These are sooooo good. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, Family Day, Sunday….but V-Day provides just the excuse I needed to make something this indulgent. Continue reading →
A delicious, sticky bread made of homemade biscuit dough generously coated in buttery cinnamon sugar. This is not sugar-free, and is a loose interpretation of the word “bread”.
I went to a family party for Chinese New Year this past weekend at my Aunt and Uncle’s. All of our family gatherings are filled with delicious homemade food, and this was no exception! It was an extra treat this time to try so many Chinese dishes, and was a lot of fun as usual.
I was trying to figure out what I should bring, and as I chatted last week with my family about the year and each of our signs, Monkey Bread popped into my head. Continue reading →
Crunchy yet chewy, buttery and a little bit caramelized, these delicious cookies did salty and sweet before it was cool.
One of my favourite and one of the most nostalgic recipes for me is my Grandma Louise’s Peanut Butter Cookies. I have the best memories of baking and eating these with my family growing up. The fork marks on the cookies in particular really bring me back Continue reading →
